Dental Exams, Cleaning and Prevention
Upon your initial visit to AZ Valley Dental Group, we will provide you with a comprehensive dental exam. Then, upon your and routine check-ups and oral examinations Dr. Eifler along withour hygienist, will include the following:
- Diagnostic Exam: These x-rays are extremely necessary and essential for the detection of decay, cysts, bone loss, tumors or lesions. Through the x-rays we can also determine tooth, root and bone positions for greater evaluation.
- Screening for Oral Cancer: We will check for any signs of oral cancer or oral anomalies.
- Gum Disease: Periodontal status is checked around the teeth, bone and gums.
- Tooth Decay: We use special dental instruments to detect decay on tooth surfaces along with specific radiographs.
- Restoration Exam: Important evaluation of the condition and integrity on the existing restorations and crowns
Dental Hygienist
Your dental cleanings will be performed by our state licensed and Registered Dental Hygienist. Our typical cleaning appointment will include a comprehensive dental exam that includes the following:
- Removal of Tartar (calculus): This is hardened plaque that has bonded itself to the tooth. Removal of calculus can be tedious as it can form below or above the gum line and often requires special dental instruments to clean.
- Plaque Removal: Plaque can resemble a sticky-like substance on your teeth. In actuality, it is living bacteria, saliva and food debris. If left unchecked bacteria can inflame the gums, which could lead to periodontal disease.
