Full Arch Replacement

What is a Full Arch Replacement?

A full arch replacement is the best and most permanent solution when you are missing all your teeth or they are in such a condition that they need replaced. This is where we use a fixed bridge anchored to dental implants.

A Full Arch Replacement has the following benefits:

  • Functionst just like your natural teeth
  • A lifetime solution
  • Great aesthetic appearance
  • Prevents bone loss

What is the course of treatment?

Dr. Eifler estimates that installing a fixed bridge will require 8 – 10 visits, but may vary depending on your situation. Most patients tell us the procedure was much more comfortable than they anticipated.

The step-by-step to installing a Fixed Bridge

This procedure may offer several options for completion. Dr. Eifler will consult with you to determine the best course of action for you.

1: Before The Procedure
Dr. Eifler will determine the procedure after your exam and will consult with you the steps necessary.

2: Installing The Implants
Lost tooth roots need replaced first. Five implants are used and temporary teeth are attached. This enables you to function normally while waiting for your permanent bridge to be installed.

3: Attaching The Bridge
The bridge is then secured and installed on top of your new implants. Keep in mind that it may take 2 – 3 visits to have a bridge completely attached. That is normal with a full jaw replacement.

4: End Result
Your new teeth will give you a look that is very natural and beautiful. If you have traditional dentures you may find this result much more preferable.

Are there alternatives to a Fixed Bridge?

Removable Overdenture
This is called a Removable Over-Denture, which is anchored on implants. We recommend against using the old fashioned type of denture due to its many disadvantages.

Removable, Implant Anchored Overdenture
A Removable Full Denture is connected to an attachment and then anchored on multiple implants in the front of the jaw. The implants will keep the denture firmly in place, allowing for improved comfort and function. This is typically a lower cost solution compared to a fixed bridge. However, a fixed bridge is widely considered the better alternative.

Removable Full Denture
This type of denture is used to cover lost teeth. The primary advantage to this solution is low cost and ease of installation. Disadvantages to this option include: poor esthetics, sore gums, eating discomfort, and potentially affected speech. If replacing the upper jaw with a denture you could lose or have reduced sense of taste.
