Multiple Teeth Replacement

Multiple Teeth Replacement – Fixed Bridge On Implants

When you need to replace three teeth in the rear of your mouth, a fixed bridge that is anchored to dental implants is the most viable fixed alternative, compared to options such as dentures.

Dental implants used to replace lost rear teeth gives you better strength and stability. This approach will help preserve bone structure and greatly improve facial appearance.

The benefits of fixed bridge on implants:

  • The most viable fixed alternative available
  • Lets you eat what you want
  • It offers the best aesthetic appearance
  • Prevents bone loss

What is the course of treatment?

Dr. Eifler anticipates up to five visits until the final fixed bridge is permanently attached, after your initial exam. This process can cause minor swelling and bruising in the soft tissue and gum areas. You can usually treat these with a typical over the counter pain medication. Most patients are able to return to work the very next day.

Step by Step to Installing the Fixed Bridge

Dr. Eifler will give you a thorough understanding of the fixed bridge at your initial appointment and the process of each step.

1: Before The Procedure
Let’s assume you have three rear teeth missing. Installing a fixed bridge is your best option. The bridge will contain all three teeth in one piece that will be anchored with dental implants. Dr. Eifler will determine your best course of action with you.

2: Installing The Implants
The first step involves installing the implants. We can usually accomplish this in one appointment. The bridge is installed at this time to allow you to function like normal almost immediately.

3: Attaching The Bridge
It often requires 1 – 2 months after the implant installation for the implants to integrate with the jawbone. Your time frame may vary. Dr. Eifler will schedule an appointment to check your progress.

4: End Result
You are done! Your new bridge will be strong and durable, and will allow you to resume normal activities.

Is there an alternative to a fixed bridge?

Removable Partial Denture
Removable partial dentures are a combination of plastic and metal. Its function is not as high as that of a fixed bridge. This method can be more costly and is usually not preferred to a fixed bridge as described above. However, the procedure itself is usually easy and it does spare natural teeth. Consult with Dr. Eifler for more information.
