The best and permanent replacement when a tooth and root are damaged is a dental implant combined with a ceramic crown. Amazingly, this excellent procedure will function and appear just like a real tooth.
In these situations, we use what is referred to as a One-Piece Implant. All components are positioned as one single unit, which provides the patient with operational and functional teeth. This results in a shorter treatment time and less pain to the patient.
The benefits to you:
This is typically a 4 appointment procedure with Dr. Eifler. Because of the expertise of Dr. Eifler and advances in technology most of our patients are able to resume working the very next day.
The initial step is to set an appointment with Dr. George Eifler. As a top Phoenix dentist he can recommend the best course of action for you.
1: Before The Procedure
During your initial exam, Dr. Eifler will take x-rays of the area in question to prepare for the procedure.
2: Installing The Implant
At this appointment Dr. Eifler will install a temporary tooth that will allow you operate normally right away. The implant requires a few months time frame to fully integrate with the jawbone. Once that takes place, you are ready for the next step.
3: Attaching The New Crown
Step three is the placement of a permanent ceramic tooth. Your new tooth will be installed to last a lifetime. No further treatments are required.
4: End Result
Your new tooth is designed to operate and look like any natural tooth. And remember, daily dental hygiene, such as flossing and brushing, will help keep your new tooth and gums healthy.
Tooth-Supported Fixed Bridge
While popular, the traditional bridge will involve the grinding down of adjacent teeth. This will help support the bridge. This procedure is a viable solution and will provide the patient with good esthetics, and is fairly easy to install. However, there are two primary disadvantages. One, the patient will have continuous bone resorbtion in the edentulous area. Two, you will sacrifice healthy teeth on behalf of the bridge, usually a last course of recommendation for any dentist.
Removable Partial Denture
This is not a permanent solution for a lost tooth. This method can be loosely attached and not stable. The patient may notice a less than satisfactory result that affects both comfort and functionality. A removable partial denture is a plastic material that most often will not give the same pleasing esthetic look of a ceramic crown. One benefit - adjacent teeth are not affected with this procedure and it is a quick and easy solution, with less cost.
Resin-Bonded Bridge
The Resin-Bonded approach is not a permanent solution because a resin-bonded bridge will eventually come off after a few years and need to be reattached by your dentist. However, it can be installed relatively quickly and will give a pleasing, normal look, since the material is made of ceramic.
