Inlay Restorations

Inlay Restoration

An Inlay Restoration is custom made in a professional dental laboratory. It is a composite material made of gold or tooth-colored porcelain. Your dentist with then cement this Inlay Restoration into your affected tooth.

An Inlay Restoration helps repair teeth with defective or large fillings, or teeth that are affected by decay. Sometimes a traumatized tooth may need an Inlay Restoration.

This is often a better approach than conventional composite fillings or silver fillings. Inlay Restoration is preferred because it allows you to keep more of your natural tooth.

Your Inlay Restoration may not be a permanent solution, though it is durable and is expected to last many years.

Why have an Inlay Restoration?

  • You have a fracture or broken tooth
  • Improves cosmetic appearance
  • Tooth decay
  • Fillings that are fractured
  • Very large fillings

What is the process?

An Inlay Restoration is a two-appointment process.

At your initial appointment, Dr. Eifler will make impressions (molds) of your tooth that are sent to a professional dental laboratory. The dentist will clean the tooth and remove old filling material and any decay. A temporary filling will then be applied to protect your tooth until your next appointment, when your new Inlay is applied.

During your second appointment, Dr. Eifler will cement your new Inlay into place.

We highly encourage you to practice proper dental hygiene by brushing twice daily, flossing and seeing your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings.
