Porcelain Fixed Bridges

Porcelain Fixed Bridges

A porcelain fixed bridge is an excellent option when you need to replace missing teeth.

There are a variety of bridges to choose from. Dr. Eifler will be glad to go over the various options that would best meet your needs, from a quality, price and fit perspective. The most popular type of bridge is the porcelain bridge.

The porcelain bridge is the most popular type because they are great at matching your natural teeth. This type of bridge involves two crowns that go over two anchor teeth that are attached to artificial teeth. This will fill the gap created by missing teeth.

You will find bridges highly durable. Dr. Eifler expects your bridge will last many years. However, in the future they may occasionally need replaced or re-cemented. This is due to normal wear.

Why use a Porcelain Fixed Bridge?

  • Keep natural teeth from moving out of position
  • Maintains proper facial shape
  • Helps restore normal speaking or chewing
  • Fills space of missing teeth
  • Maintain facial shape
  • Improves smile
  • Change from removable denture to permanent denture

The Process of getting a Porcelain Fixed Bridge

GDr. Eifler anticipates this type of procedure will require at least two appointments, maybe more. The first step involves removing a portion of the enamel to two anchoring teeth. A mold is then created by a professional dental lab. At your initial appointment we will fit you with a temporary bridge to wear until your second appointment.

Your second appointment will involve Dr. Eifler cementing and ensuring a proper fit of your bridge. He may only temporarily cement the bridge to allow your teeth and tissue time to adjust. Then later, your new bridge will be permanently cemented.

As with any dental procedure, there are certain proper dental hygiene habits that will help you care for your new bridge, as well as all your teeth. You will receive those instructions in our office.
